Is The Minivan Or even SUV A Good Choice For Your Family?

Do you find it hard for your family members to squeeze into your car these days? Should you just face facts and go ahead and trade in your smaller sized vehicle for the larger one you really need? But, how can you decide if you want that minivan or the sport utility vehicle for your more spacious family vehicle?

They both have ample room, with comfortable seats for five to eight passengers, along with entertainment systems for the rear seats. They each come furnished with similar safety features, like anti-lock brakes and the usual air bags, but the minivans have a less chance of rolling over than the SUV. You will have to look at your family’s needs, and a closer look at the individual vehicles to determine which one belongs in your garage. Which one has the right styling, the best fuel economy, the towing capacity you need, or the most cargo and passenger space, to best meet your requirements.

When it comes to a vehicle’s style, it’s simply a matter of preference. Many of us prefer an SUV because the outdoor sporty look makes a nice impression. The minivan is going to eternally be associated with soccer moms and the carpool. Nearly all men will not be caught dead driving a minivan, and that’s why you commonly see minivans with women in the driver’s seats. Younger children commonly love traveling in a minivan but, as soon as they become teenagers, they don’t want to be seen being dropped off at school by a minivan. The point where the minivans win out is with the fuel economy, because the SUVs are gas guzzlers. If you’re looking for the top vehicle economy wise, the minivan stands out as the way to go.

The minivan typically has reduced insurance and maintenance costs so you’ll pay more if you’re purchasing a vehicle to impress others. Young kids generally prefer the spacious interior of a minivan even though, in reality, the cargo space and passenger space are typically very similar in both vehicles. Having its low step-in position and large windows, the minivan is the top choice when your family has small children. You’ll like the SUV featuring its top notch towing capacity if you frequently haul your boat to nearby lakes. Therefore, it appears to be fairly evident that the needs of your family determine your choice of vehicle more than your preferences do.

Security may actually be the determining factor in your final vehicle decision. They equally have safety features that are comparable, but the higher rollover threat goes to the SUVs. However, rollovers exclusively happen in a very small proportion of accidents and SUVs provide superior protection in two-car collisions. If the potential for a rollover weighs heavily on your mind, you will no doubt feel much better if you purchase a minivan.
